Andorra!

The summer of 2017 saw us heading back to Valras-Plage in Southern France with the same group of friends from 2015. Once again, we planned to hire a motorbike from Road2Luxe , but this time we had a new plan. Rather than exploring the Alps, something we had done a couple of times now, we decided we would head in the opposite direction and check out the Pyrenees mountains, ending in Andorra. A new plan also meant a different bike, so this trip saw us riding the BMW RS1200. Our first full day on the bike saw us heading straight out towards the Pyrenees. We always stop a lot along the way to try and capture lots of photos of the stunning sights we see. Touching on the Spanish border through our journey we were heading towards Andorra where we had booked to spend the night in Hotel Nordic. This hotel is ideally located for skiers in the winter season, not too far at all from the slopes, I can imagine it would be absolute stunning when surrounded by snow. But it was summer for us, so ...

Closer to Home

Sometimes we don't stray abroad for our adventures; sometimes we like to explore more of our own country, and September of 2015 saw us doing just this. Having had a week in Santorini earlier in the year, we decided to get away again for a few days to celebrate our 5 year anniversary. This trip saw us driving up to the Lake District to explore some of the most stunning scenery that England has to offer, and we were certainly not disappointed (despite some pretty rubbish weather whilst we were gone!) For the drive up to Lake District, we took my latest Honda, a CRV. Whilst not the fastest, most beautiful vehicle, she would certainly do well on some of the more "rural" roads it has to be said. We stayed in Keswick which is a stunning little town towards the top of the Lake District National Park. In the town there was a lovely array of independent shops, lovely cafes (including one in the square we had a fab breakfast at) and a hotel that had a beautiful restaurant that di...

A Wedding and Holiday

The summer of 2016 saw us booking our holiday based around the marriage on one of our friends. They had decided to get married on the beautiful island of Santorini, so of course we wanted to go out to see their special day and to explore a new (to us) bit of Europe. I think it's safe to say we weren't disappointed! This trip would also mark the first time we'd flown anywhere together. Confined space with other people for 4 hours rather than just the 2 of us in the car on our own timescale! We arrived late on the Monday evening so headed straight to our hotel in Kamari. It was up a steep hill and offered some pretty stunning views out to sea which we discovered the next day. For the evening, it was just about getting food and drink and then sleeping. The next day we were out to enjoy the island, we were just a 5 minute walk from the beach and there was stunning restaurants and lots of little shops selling all sorts of things for the length of the beach front. We spen...

The First Bike

A year after we took our first road trip together, we were given the opportunity of going away with some friends to the South of France for a fortnight. We jumped at the chance to spend some time in the sun, by the beach with friends, but we also knew we would want a few days on our own as well, and that they would probably like the space from us as well, so we decided we would rent a motorbike for a few days on this trip. This holiday started with all the boys driving to Le Mans 24 hour race (see a theme here?) and then driving on down to Southern France at the end of the weekend. The girls flew out to meet the boys on the Monday morning. We were staying in a place called Valras-Plage on a lovely campsite that is only a 5 minute walk from the beach and a bar on the beach. What a win! There was good food on site, a bakery with fresh-baked baguettes and croissants every morning and afternoon, a wine shop, bars, and a pool as well. All in all, a pretty great site and only about a 15-20...
